Week 3 in Nursery
What a lovely third week we have had in Nursery! The children have continued to settle into our routines and have enjoyed lots of fun, hands-on learning experiences together.
This week, we explored the story The Colour Monster and talked about different feelings and emotions. The children created their own jars of feelings, thinking about how different emotions might look and feel. We also matched our sensory bottles to different feelings, exploring how the colours and sensory experiences made us feel.
We enjoyed reading Cuddle Bear's Book of Hugs and then shared a special story with a bear. The children enjoyed lots of opportunities to talk, listen and join in with the story, as well as exploring the idea of hugs and showing kindness to others.
Outside, we have been developing our gross motor skills through lots of movement. The children practised jumping, running, walking and moving in different directions. We had lots of fun exploring how our bodies can move!
We have also been strengthening our fine motor skills through playdough. The children rolled, splatted, poked and shaped the playdough, making sausages, balls and pancakes. These activities are a great way to build the hand and finger strength needed for future writing skills.
It has been wonderful to see the children becoming more confident, developing new friendships and enjoying their learning through play. We are looking forward to another exciting week in Nursery!
